We are looking for an experienced Chief Regulatory Counsel to join our team at Cygnet.


Cygnet have been providing a national network of specialist mental health services for more than 30 years.

This role be working on a full time, 37.5 hour per week basis.


The role is remotely based however travel to our London office is required.

Your Day-to-Day...



To act in a minimally supervised role in the management of inquests, court of protection matters and provision of advice. To represent Cygnet Health Care in formal legal proceedings, attending Court and undertaking advocacy where appropriate. Day to day management of matters before the Coronial Courts and Court of Protection which are complex. Accepting new instructions and to manage cases considering instructions and entering factual, medical and legal information on any Cygnet Health Care computerised case management system; Obtaining patients' medical records and, on occasion, considering whether disclosure to third parties is appropriate with reference to GDPR, Data Protection Act and the Access to Health Records Act;

We are looking for someone who is...



Qualified and practicing solicitor and/or the post holder must have had extensive equivalent specialist work experience in this area Proven track record of managing a substantial caseload of legal claims, including high value clinical negligence claims, personal injury and complex coroner's inquests for a minimum of 8 years Demonstrate experience of advising at senior level on range of health law issues that arise in a healthcare setting Extensive experience of conducting difficult meetings involving clinical and professional staff on legal issues affecting them
