As the Chief Risk Officer, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks that could impact Channel's financial performance, reputation and long-term viability, ensuring prompt and effective action is taken to address identified risks as they arise.

Status: Permanent



Working hours: Monday - Friday;

40 hours per week; 8:30am- 5:30pm



Location: Office based; 77 Charlotte Street, London W1Y 4PW with some flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week



Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer



Salary: Upwards to 150K p.a. incl. long term incentive scheme -

Do you have:



Senior level experience in a senior risk management role? Experience in asset-based lending to corporates providing working capital solutions using a variety of financing structures, including securitisations, receivables and funding credit portfolios such as revenue based finance, payables finance, inventory and other forms of collateral? Appropriate qualifications in Finance and lending products? Experience of working in an FCA regulated environment or similar?

The opportunity:




This is a senior management role in the business where you can have significant influence in the development of the business using your knowledge and experience in a corporate lending environment. You will be expected to get stuck in from day one:


Responsibilities of the Chief Risk Officer are split as follows:

Policies and Procedures + Overall enterprise-wide risk management of credit, market, operational and reputational risks.
+ Developing and implementing risk management strategies and policies to effectively protect Channel.
+ Monitoring and evaluating risk management activities to ensure they are effective and remain "fit for purpose". Maintain the 3 Lines of Defence risk management practice across the business and ensure that everyone knows their roles and responsibilities within it.



Governance and Risk Appetite + Maintain Channel's Risk Governance framework, including internal controls and management of operational risk.
+ Work with senior management to articulate and control Channel's risk appetite for credit, market, operational and reputational risks
+ Ensure all staff are aware of Channel's risk policies and procedures. Make these accessible to all staff and provide additional advice and support as necessary.



Technology, Reporting and Communications + Leverage technology we have developed known as Magic, which combines Finley Technology to track covenants and termination events and supplemented by Open Banking (Re:Cap), Sikoia (AML KYC) and Neotas (reputational deep dive).
+ Report on risk issues to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors (as required)
Develop and maintain suitable risk dashboards covering all aspects of the activities of Channel. Communicate as required to other stakeholders including investors, borrowers, rating agencies and other Channel board members.


Staffing and Leadership + Lead the activities of other members of the Risk Management and related team. Ensure team members are appropriately trained and supported in their roles.
+ Ensure adequate resourcing of the risk management function, making recommendations as appropriate, to the ExCo regarding staff additions or changes.
+ Apply our proprietary ESG scorecard to monitor risks across the portfolio



Risk Monitoring: + Ensure proactive management of post-investment relationships from deal initiation to exit.
+ Understand how to apply ratings methodology to transaction level data to promote monitoring capabilities
+ Consider the ongoing use of enhanced technology and the "Magic" technology stack of Channel to automate and hyperscale the risk management process.
+ Implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard portfolio performance.
+ Prepare comprehensive portfolio risk reports for presentation to the Ex-Co & Board.
