The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Childcare Assistant to join our team on a maternity cover basis, with the potential for ongoing employment beyond the contract. The role is 30-40 hours per week, working either Monday to Thursday, 7:30am - 5:30pm or Tuesday - Thursday 7.30-5.30. You will play a key part in supporting children's daily routines, learning, and development, while ensuring their wellbeing and safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care and support for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities to support learning and development. Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for children. Support children's personal, social, and emotional development, helping them grow in confidence and independence. Work closely with colleagues and parents to ensure excellent communication and continuity of care. Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and setting policies and procedures at all times.

Person Specification

Essential:

Experience working with young children in a childcare or nursery setting. A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Up-to-date DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). Valid Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to update prior to starting).
Desirable:

Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or working towards). Knowledge of EYFS framework.
