Tallisdom Agency is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join Hampshire County Council's Children's Residential Homes. As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people who have experienced traumatic childhoods. Working as part of a diverse and supportive team, you will provide a structured, stimulating, and caring environment for children who may display extreme behaviors and high levels of distress.
You will act as a 'therapeutic parent,' fostering positive, trusting relationships that help young people feel safe and valued. This role requires patience, empathy, resilience, and the ability to remain kind and consistent in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
Build positive and trusting relationships with children to provide a safe and supportive environment.
Serve as a role model, demonstrating positive behavior and promoting emotional well-being.
Utilize positive behavior management strategies, including physical restraint, when necessary.
Engage in daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, messy play, leisure activities, and personal hygiene support.
Respond effectively to challenging behavior while maintaining a respectful and empathetic approach.
Collaborate with team members to ensure the well-being and development of the children.
Maintain a safe and secure environment that supports young people in reaching their full potential.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
Experience
: Previous experience in residential, secure, or similar settings is advantageous but not required; training will be provided.
Certificates
: Valid certificates in Positive Behaviour Management training (Team Teach) or Prevention & Management of Violence & Aggression (PMVA).
License
: A valid UK manual driver's license is mandatory.
Skills
:
Strong understanding of safeguarding principles.
Passionate about supporting young people with traumatic backgrounds.
Physically fit to undertake the role and complete mandatory training.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within two years).
Knowledge of child protection procedures.
Professional experience in residential child care.
