We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Childcare worker to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising and engaging with children, ensuring their well-being and development through play and educational activities. Responsibilities
Supervise children
during playtime, mealtimes, rest periods, and other daily routines to ensure their
safety, emotional well-being, and comfort
, both during daytime and overnight hours.
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities
that encourage physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development,this includes creative play, structured learning, and calming bedtime routines for night shifts.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
by modelling respectful interaction and using evidence-based behavioural support strategies.
Support children during transitions
, including nap time, and nighttime settling, ensuring a smooth and secure experience at all times.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised environment
, regularly checking toys, bedding, and learning materials for safety and hygiene,particularly important for overnight care.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, or social workers
, providing verbal or written updates on the child's progress, daily activities, sleep patterns, mood, and any incidents or concerns.
Provide assistance with personal care
including feeding, dressing, toileting, and hygiene routines, tailored to the age and ability of each child.
Observe and record behavioural, emotional, or physical changes
in the children and report any concerns promptly to management or appropriate safeguarding authorities.
Offer emotional reassurance and overnight comfort
, especially for children who may be anxious, unsettled, or in transitional care arrangements.
Work flexible hours
, including
evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts
, to accommodate the needs of families and care plans, ensuring consistent and reliable support at all times.
Participate in regular team meetings, training, and supervision
to stay aligned with safeguarding procedures, early years frameworks, and care standards.
Support emergency response protocols
during overnight shifts (e.g., illness, fire evacuation) and ensure children's safety at all times.
Requirements
Previous experience in childcare or a related field is preferred but not essential.
A genuine love for working with children and a commitment to their development.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being able to take initiative when required.
Patience, creativity, and adaptability in handling various situations that may arise in a childcare setting.
A valid First Aid certificate is an advantage but can be obtained after hiring if necessary.
