Child Contact Supervisor

Colchester, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Do you live near Colchester and looking for a flexible part time role working with families ? We are expanding our team of child contact supervisors.

What is supervised child contact ?

Supervised contact is also known as Family time and our six Child Contact venues across East Anglia and South East provide children with the opportunity to spend quality time with their parent and/or relative in a safe, neutral space.

Our latest child contact centre is in Colchester and we also help facilitate contact sessions in the Essex community. The children we work with may be living with a parent, an extended family member or foster carers and we provide children the opportunity to spend time with a parent/relative not living with them .

As a contact supervisor you would be overseeing this family time, either in the centre or out in the community, and writing reports afterwards.

What days of the week do you need people ?

We need candidates with good and regular availability as families would be allocated to a contact supervisor who needs to cover their sessions, which can run weekly, fortnightly or several times a week. We operate 7 days a week so we need people who can offer weekday sessions including straight after school and/or can work at the weekend (on one or both days). A typical contact session may last around 2-3hrs and you might do one or more a day, when needed.

Do you ever need bilingual staff ?

We do get asked for bilingual contact sessions occasionally, so welcome applicants with a fluent second language. Please be aware though that majority of work would be English speaking, even for our bilingual teams, and all candidate must have fluent written and spoken English.

What are the hours?

They vary although for each family that is allocated to you however, their sessions tend to run regularly eg weekly or fortnightly for the period of months/years they are using our services. There will also be occasions when other team members are on leave and you will be working with different families. These are employed roles but due to the demand-driven nature of our work,

all positions are Zero-Hour Bank roles, with no minimum weekly hours guaranteed

as frequency of sessions varies according to each family and how long we are working with them.

Where would I be working ?

Candidates must be willing to work at our contact centre in Colchester and in the Essex community. You do get paid travel time and mileage for all community work but not for working at the contact centre. This role can involve child transport so you must have a car and be willing to undertake this.

What makes a good child contact supervisor ?

Reliable Conscientious Professional Robust Organised A good communicator Experienced working with families Willing to travel where contact is needed Car owner Good team member and flexible to meet peak times and cover colleague's holidays

Excellent written and spoken English and own a computer as report writing is required

What do AG Family Support do ?

We are a family-run organisation making a positive difference in the lives of children and families since 2015. We are a reputable provider of independent social work, family support, and child contact services to local authorities, the courts, and members of the public in the UK.

What else do I need to know ?
