Overview


Supportive Futures provides high-quality, person-centred support to children and young people . We are committed to creating safe, nurturing environments where young people can grow, develop and feel supported.

We are now looking for dedicated, reliable and compassionate Self-Employed Children's Support Workers to join our team to cover 24-hour shifts.

Location



Liverpool / Wigan / Greater Manchester
Due to the needs of the company staff are expected to be available to work in all locations and in all settings. We do not pay for staff getting to and from the place of work.

At times staff may be required to move from placement to placement to support our young people.

Hours

:

Day 1: 10:00 am-23:00 pm

23:00-7:00 am /sleep

Day 2: 07:00am - 10:00am finish

Pay

:

Non driver @ 12.30 p/h

Driver 13.00 p/h

Mon-Friday sleep @ 65.00

Sat-Sunday sleep @ 90.00

Services we support:



Supportive futures are a new dynamic company, supporting children and young people from a variety of complex and trauma related backgrounds. We have a range of ages, whom have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

We as a team are dedicated to giving the best support possible and gaining the best outcomes for our children/young people placed with us.

We are a 28-day crisis placement and quite often support children from trauma related experiences and historical crime related issues. Staff will work on a 2:1 basis and we encourage support our children/young people to engage in filled days and work on their emotional, and well-being with staff carrying out regular key worker sessions to support this.

We offer activity based fun packed days; with no two days will be the same. Activities can range from: go-karting, swimming, walking, climbing, animal care, farm visits, zoo trips, fun fair, arcades, football, basketball, gym, horse-riding, and lots more. We try to tailor the activities to support the individual child/young person's interests & hobbies.

You will be expected to complete all daily reports, safeguarding paperwork and daily check lists at all placements.

Staff will be travelling daily and will be expected to use the vehicle in a professional manner. Staff will be given a daily budget for food, petrol and activities. This is to be accounted for daily and staff are to share the day-to-day job roles.

Requirements:



Working within a team and the ability to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding in sometimes challenging situations. An understanding of the development needs (physical, emotional, intellectual, social and educational) of children/young people. An understanding of child protection/safeguarding. An understanding of social care and how it works with and for children/young people. Ability to motivate others and self to meet performance targets, goals and outcomes. The ability to deal with emotional stress. Good interpretational skills-relate well to others (young people, professionals and peers). Good knowledge of basic I.T.

As a support worker you will:



To ensure the safety and well being of children/young people is paramount in your dayt to day duties. Work in partnership with young people, their families, peers, social workers and other professionals/ relevant agencies, in meeting the needs of the child/young person. Ensure the safety of the child/young person is paramount. Be quick thinking and deal with situations as they arise in a crisis or other situation. Report and record daily the day-to-day activities, outcomes and incidents that may happen on the day. To attend meetings with child/ young people & professionals to meet the need of the child/young person. To encourage and support our children/young person in having a fulfilled day, including booking and engaging in activities daily. Following individual risk assessments for each child/young person and report and record any findings. Dealing with multiple agencies to support and nurture our children/young person. To understand all relevant legislation guidance policies procedures in relation to safeguarding children/young people. To promote daily, the development of a comfortable physical environment, which is conductive to good social care practice and in line with standard procedures. To be accountable for the daily budget for food, expenses and activities whilst on shift, and document accordingly.

We as a company, are dedicated to enriching the lives of the child/young person and support our staff in every way. We have a dedicated management team, who are on call 24/7 to support staff.

We have a fabulous team here at Supportive Futures and all our staff support one another.

Your shift will begin at 07.00, and you are expected to carry out a list of duties throughout the day/evening. This will be shared with your colleague.

You will be supported by our dynamic and experienced management team in monthly employee development meetings for individuals and the team, to build on your continued professional development and bring any issues to light so we can support and nurture you in your role, giving you the empowerment to be the best support worker you can be.

Schedule:



You are expected to pick up at least 8 shifts a month, (non-contractual staff) which would include 3 working weekend shifts per month. You can pick up as many shifts as you like throughout the month, although we will adhere to the right to work policy and normal working week hours policy.

Experience:



Desirable, not essential. As full training is provided.

Education:



Level 3 in working with children is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Basic I.T skills needed.

Licence/certification:



Driving License preferred.

Upon enrolment you will be allocated 33 online training modules. These are expected to be completed within your first month of beginning your employment.

All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check., satisfactory references (two from your most recent previous employers), right to work checks and any other necessary checks.
