Summary


This Child Support Worker role offers a meaningful opportunity to work with pupils who have profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), autism, and non-verbal communication needs. Based in a school with a nurturing ethos, you'll be part of a dedicated team helping children access learning, develop independence, and experience joy in their day-to-day lives.

What to Expect


As a Child Support Worker, you'll play a key role in supporting pupils with complex needs. You'll assist with classroom activities, deliver targeted support, and help pupils feel safe, understood, and engaged.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils with PMLD, autism, and sensory or communication needs Assisting with routines, including mobility and personal care, in a respectful and dignified way Working closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning and care plans Promoting independence, choice, and emotional wellbeing Creating a calm, positive learning environment tailored to each pupil's needs

Who You Are


This role is ideal for those with a background in care, support work, or health and social care who are looking to transition into an education setting.

You'll need to:

Have experience supporting children or adults with disabilities, especially PMLD, autism, or non-verbal needs Hold a relevant qualification in care, health and social care, social work, or a related field Be patient, reliable, and genuinely committed to helping vulnerable children thrive Work well as part of a team and follow guidance from education and healthcare professionals Be confident, compassionate, and adaptable in a busy school environment

The School


You'll be joining a welcoming school where pupils are supported through highly individualised teaching, therapy, and care. The staff are passionate about inclusion and work closely with families and external professionals to help every child reach their potential, no matter their starting point.

Working Hours


Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.

Pay: 14.00-16.00 per hour
