Salary: 18.00 per hour 36.00 per hour bank holidays



This is an exciting opportunity to help in enhancing the development and skills of a 5-year-old who has cerebral palsy, microcephaly, epilepsy and global developmental delay. You need full flexibility of time with the possible opportunity to work more hours as the care package evolves.

You will work with the child in their own home, in the community, in educational settings and on holidays in the UK and abroad to help implement their therapy strategies to enhance their skills and support the family with their care. Working alongside parents, therapists and other professionals to optimise their development and provide high quality care.

We are seeking an active, confident, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who can work on their own, using initiative and following guidelines. You need to have the willingness and interest to learn and work as part of a team with parents and professionals involved. You are expected to have proficient written, communication, problem-solving and care skills.

All essential and specific training and supervision will be given to help you fulfil your role and the hours will be provided in addition to your contracted hours.

If you do not hold a valid NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) we will enrol you on to The Care Certificate qualification, which we expect you to complete within your first 6 months of employment.

Support is required throughout the week Monday to Sunday and planned on a rota in advance with other team members.The rota is subject to change in line with client's needs.

19.25 average hours per week are available on a rota and do include weekend/evening hours.

We would like two support workers to share these hours on permanent contracts:

Contract 1 - 12.5 average hours per week over 4-week period

Contract 2 - 6.75 average hours per week over 4-week period

School holidays from September 2025:



Monday to Saturday - 10am to 7pm

Sunday - 10am to 7pm (alternate weekends)

Term-time from September 2025:



Monday to Friday

Additional

hours for training, supervision and team meetings and to cover hours during staff annual leave and sickness (which can be short notice).

There are opportunities of

additional

hours to accompany and support the child on holidays and Intensive Rehabilitation Programmes internationally and in the UK (planned in advance).

Your Role:



Maintain accurate and detailed handover (daily) records using an electronic app (Log My Care). Uphold CQC's 5 key questions at all times: Safe, Effective, Caring, Well-Led and Responsive. Support the child in all daily tasks and deliver personal care: including bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, supporting the use of communication aids, and other specialist equipment. Administer/dispense/record administration of medication (including emergency epilepsy medication) as prescribed and documented in the Support Plan following training and following the MSPCM policy and procedure. Ensuring all related documents are kept up to date in accordance with MSPCM policy and ensuring the prompt and accurate logging of any Accident/Incidents/Near Misses and escalating these to the Case Manager. Move and handle as recommended in the moving and handling training and as per MSPCM policy and procedure. Cleaning the child's environment and any associated equipment. Enable the child to live as full, active and comfortable life as possible, planning and arranging social and recreational activities within the home and in the local community, motivating and encouraging participation in such, taking into account the child's health and medical condition e.g. swimming, play centres, parks. Reinforce and assist in any therapy programmes, including: behavioural/OT/Physio/SaLT programmes under the guidance of the necessary professionals. Travelling with, act as driver, or take responsibility for the child when travelling, ensuring that safety is a priority whilst using public transport and when accompanying the client on each outing. Effectively communicating with the multi-disciplinary team, with the child and their family/friends, and within the care support team. This may involve the highest degree of sensitivity and insight into family dynamics. Ensure client confidentiality in record keeping and discussion concerning the client with their dignity, respect and privacy always being maintained. Undertaking any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the employment as agreed with the client's family and Case Manager.
