Come and join our fabulous team in the Early Years and Childcare service at Rotherham Council.

We have an exciting opportunity available; we are looking to appoint a Childcare Officer 30 hours per week all year round. The post holder will work across the borough with early years settings and out of school provisions.

The post holder will be part of the Rotherham Early Years and Childcare Service. Working to develop and support a partnership approach to the delivery of quality early years and childcare services within Rotherham to increase the number of settings and providers achieving an Ofsted outcome of Good or Outstanding at inspection and will support the implementation of a childcare sufficiency strategy to ensure there is sufficient childcare and early education to meet the needs of parents.

The post holder will:

Support early years and childcare providers (predominantly childminders and out-of-school clubs) to improve quality and achieve 'Good' or better Ofsted outcomes.

Provide up-to-date guidance on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted requirements to new and existing providers.

Assist providers in meeting EYFS standards, including Safeguarding, Welfare, and Learning & Development requirements, and gaining Ofsted registration.

Conduct support visits to childcare settings, maintaining accurate records of all interactions, including meetings and advice given.

Encourage integrated early education and childcare, promoting high-quality provision across all settings to contribute towards good or better outcomes for children at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage.(EYFS)

Offer ongoing support and training, including professional development, networks, and tailored advice to enhance provision quality.

Promote inclusive practice, supporting providers to meet the needs of disabled children and those with special educational or additional needs.

Identify and report training needs to the Senior Childcare Officer to inform future planning.

Deliver workforce development activities, including childminder briefings, pre-registration courses, and CPD training.

Collaborate with partners and services, including Inclusion Co-ordinators, Families Information Service, and community agencies, contributing to audits and promoting safeguarding

The post involves outreach support to settings and therefore an enhanced DBS will be required. Some occasional and evening work will be required.
