CLASP Central Leith Afterschool Provision (http://www.clasp.scot) is an out-of-school childcare service which has run for over 2 decades and is based in Leith Primary School. We are a charitable non-profit making organisation whose mission is to provide affordable, high quality after school and holiday club care for primary school-age children. We are a child-led play setting, where children's choice is at the heart of ALL decisions implemented. We provide and facilitate play opportunities in a stimulating environment based on the children's ideas, needs and preferences. Headed by a voluntary Management Committee, the day-to-day running is carried out by the management team made up of Project Manager, Deputy Managers, Play Workers and Playworker assistants. You will report to the Project Manager and be supported by the management team.

We are required to recruit a

Part-Time Play Worker

(

Monday 2-6, Tuesday 2-6, Wednesday 2-6, Thursday 1:30-6, Friday 11:30-6). Some flexibility to days and hours may be available. We cannot offer hours before and/or after these times but may be able to offer less days to suit the correct candidate.

23 hrs a week: 12.21 - for unqualified as an Assitant Playworker.

23 hrs a week: 12.72 - qualified as a Playworker

Term Time contract available.

Over the school holidays (except Christmas), we run clubs in which hours and shifts change. We go on trips and offer different activities and visits to ensure the children have different experiences as per play work principles.

You will be required to supervise and interact with the children whilst ensuring their health and wellbeing is promoted at all times in line with GIRFEC (SHANNARI). This is of paramount importance in this role. You will work as part of a supportive team and use your own initiative and creativity to plan activities, set up play spaces, provide and facilitate play and attend relevant training.

Cleaning and maintaining the setup of the rooms, toys, equipment areas, play spaces and storage is an important part of the job and we follow health & safety procedures and complete required training. The successful applicant will be required to have a PVG and be SSSC registered.

Experience of working with children is essential and a qualification in Playwork (e.g. SVQ 3) is desirable. You must be willing to work towards SVQ 3 if you do not already hold the qualification which CLASP will support with through our training provider.
