Salary:

12.21 to 13.00 depending on qualification and experience.

Working hours is up to 40 hours per week.

Nursery Opening times:

7:30am - 6:30pm Monday - Friday

Overview



1 To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Setting;

2 To give support to other personnel within the Setting;

3 To implement the daily routine in the base room.

Building Blocks Kids Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is a requirement of all staff that they share this commitment and follow the prescribed policy and procedures to continuously promote a culture of safeguarding across the whole organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities



1. Plan and implement a range of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff;

2. Assist with observing, planning and assessing children's learning and development;

3. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team;

4. Liaise with and support parents/careers and other family members;

5. To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, fundraising events, recruitment events, such as open day;

6. To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.;

7. Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the aims and objectives of the nursery is fulfilled;

8. Recording accidents in the accident book. Ensure the manager has initialed the report before the parent receives it;

9. Identify how your strengths can be most utilised and be constantly aware of the needs of the children;

10. To respect the confidentiality of information received;

11. To develop your role within the team and support the key worker;

12. Specific Child Care Tasks:

Assist with the preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development; Assist to ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing; Assist with washing and changing children as required; Assist with providing comfort and warmth to an ill child;
13. To ensure the Setting of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development;

14. To be aware of the high profile of the Setting and to uphold its standards at all times.

15. To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring Setting policies and procedures are observed at all times.

Person Specification



Skills, knowledge and experience



Interest in the care, learning and development of young children Previous experience of caring for, or working with children aged 0-5 in a voluntary or paid capacity An awareness of the Early Learning Goals An awareness of the Foundation Stage curriculum Knowledge of the National Standards for the regulation of Childcare provision A commitment to the provision of high quality childcare A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities

Good organisational, record keeping and planning skills Punctuality Excellent communication skills, with children, colleagues, advisors and parents/careers. Patience Empathy with children, colleagues and parents/careers Reliability and trustworthiness A positive approach to inclusive practice, with children and colleagues Enthusiasm for working with young children Flexibility - occasionally working hours might be changed, e.g. if the setting hosts a Parent's Evening Able to work in small teams

Essential training:



Applicants should hold minimum level 3 childcare qualification

Desirable training:



Completion of Safeguarding

Health & Safety certificate

First Aid certificate

Food hygiene

Completion of other relevant courses

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.
