To support the Lead Childminder in providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children in line with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
Supervise and engage children in play and learning activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Support children's emotional, social, and educational development in a nurturing environment.
Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and maintaining hygiene routines, including nappy changing and toilet training.
Ensure a clean, safe, and organised environment by following health and safety guidelines.
Observe, record, and report children's progress and any concerns to the Lead Childminder.
Work in partnership with parents/carers, updating them on children's daily activities and progress.
Follow safeguarding policies, reporting any concerns immediately.
Attend training and development sessions as required.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the Lead Childminder.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
Minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare (or willingness to work towards one).
Experience working with young children in a childcare setting.
Understanding of child development and the EYFS framework.
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Good communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions effectively.
Patience, reliability, and a caring nature.
First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain one).
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
Desirable Criteria:
Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years.
Previous experience in a childminding or nursery setting.
Understanding of inclusive practices and working with children with additional needs.
Food hygiene certification.
Additional training in safeguarding, behaviour management, or special educational needs (SEN).
Additional Information:
The successful candidate must adhere to safeguarding policies and undergo regular training.
This role involves standing for long periods, lifting children, and working indoors and outdoors.
