Job Title
Young Adults Support Worker
Job Purpose
To support children and young adults with complex needs and support a family nurturing environment for children and young people. You'll be part of a support team ensuring children's day to day needs are met and children feel safe, supported, and well cared for. This will involve ensuring all personal care needs are met, medication support, emotional and behavioural support, health care needs met, supporting educational needs and social needs.

Main Activities
You will be required to support children with a variety of needs such as learning disabilities, physical disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment, global development delay, challenging behaviour, ADHD, Autism, behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties, and others. The aim of this role is to ensure children and young people are kept safe and cared for in a nurturing environment that supports their personal, emotional, and social development and ensures all their health care needs are always met.
As a Support worker you must be sensitive and responsive to the race, culture, religion, age, disability, gender, and sexuality of the child who is receiving support and their representatives.
You will provide support according to the child's specific needs. Your duties may include:
Supporting children with educational needs
Supporting children's emotional, behavioural, and social needs
Supporting children's health needs
Personal care
Management of incontinence
Management of MRSA
Supporting a healthy lifestyle and exercise as appropriate to the child's abilities
Moving and Handling
Transporting and supporting children to attend school, appointments, family liaisons and for social activities
Communicating effectively with the child, the multi-disciplinary team, and Cumbria Quality Care
Supporting children to access family activities and events whilst meeting both the child and their families needs
Keeping accurate, factual written accounts of your time with the children
Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of children
Following the Cumbria quality Care policy with Medication as outlined in the policies and procedures
Observing and following the Cumbria Quality Care health and safety policy
You will also be required to perform tasks such as:
Meal preparation
Household duties, which will include: Laundry, dusting, vacuuming, tidying, bed making, keeping the refrigerator clean and ensuring the contents have not expired.
Shopping - ensuring all receipts are kept
Any other duties which may be part of a managing the home
Being supportive to the child's family members
Knowledge & Expertise
General support experience of working with children
Ideally some experience in supporting for children
Ideally Diploma in children and young people's workforce
Essential Requirements
An enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau.

Residential Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
Support Environment: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification
Driving Licence (preferred)
