Job Description

You and Me Counselling are looking to recruit a full-time qualified counsellor to join our busy and expanding counselling service.

You and Me Counselling is a charitable organisation established in 2011. We are a counselling and psychotherapy service based in Hornchurch, Essex that works with children, young people, adults, and their families in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. Our counsellors and therapists work both within schools and from our own counselling rooms located in Hornchurch and Ilford. As of 2018, we are proud to announce we are an approved service provider in the London Borough of Havering.

You and Me Counselling are an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means we are fully governed by the BACP's Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Term



The job role will be for an initial period of 1 year with the potential to continue employment subject to successful development in the 1st year.

SALARY



Starts at 13.85 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:

The total weekly hours will be 40 per week. It is expected that the hours of duty will be 9 am to 5 pm, one shift a week of 11am-7pm, with one hour off for lunch, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings. This role will involve travel between Havering, Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Dagenham.

Qualifications/Experience:



Qualified to a minimum of Diploma Level 4 or Level 5 Counselling Qualification Experience of working with young people. Experience of assessing, engaging, and working with young people who self-harm and experience suicidal feelings. Experience of delivering counselling interventions in a focussed and time limited manner Ability to form positive working relationships with young people, colleagues, and other professionals. Must have full drivers license and own vehicle.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Ability to work therapeutically with young people through a variety of mediums including face to face and online. Knowledge of the professional issues relating to counselling provision, including safeguarding and child protection procedures. Accredited with BACP, UKRC or equivalent or actively working towards accreditation. Ability to keep accurate records and complete monitoring & evaluation within agreed deadlines. Ability to work within the confines of confidentiality. Ability to manage time, to plan own workload and evaluate performance. Ability to manage confidential information within project and organisational guidelines. Able to use initiative, adaptable and flexible. Must have clean Driving License and be able to drive between the various schools (mileage will be covered)

TRAINING AND INDUCTION



The successful candidate can expect a full induction, a DBS check, and to be trained in Child-protection and Safeguarding as required by You & Me Counselling, and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Professional



Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (e.g. BPS, UKCP, BACP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by NHS England and National Institute for Clinical Excellence. Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of your chosen modality and other psychological therapies. Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development (CPD). Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager. Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives. Keep up to date all records in relation to CPD and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments. Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives. Participate in service improvement by highlighting issues and implementing changes in practice. Provide advice on matters related to the practice and delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to individuals/groups/committees within local Mental Health Trust, Primary Care Health and other voluntary agencies. Promote and maintain links with Primary Care and Secondary Care Staff to help co-ordinate the provision of an effective Psychological Therapies Service.
