Children in Care Social Worker - City of Wolverhampton Council
City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking experienced Children in Care Social Workers to join their Children and Young People in Care Service. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with children and young people, promoting positive outcomes, safeguarding, and supporting them to achieve permanency and stability.
You will work across early intervention and statutory levels, managing a complex caseload, completing child assessments, care plans, pathway plans, and participating in reviews, statutory meetings, and court proceedings. You will work collaboratively with colleagues within the Children and Family Support Centre and partner agencies to ensure children and young people are supported effectively.
Key Responsibilities

• Undertake high-quality child and family assessments, analyzing needs and risks
• Develop, implement, and review Child in Care Plans, Pathway Plans, and Safety Plans
• Conduct statutory visits and casework to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes
• Participate in case conferences, review meetings, and court proceedings, providing clear reports
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, foster carers, and adoption services
• Provide guidance and support to colleagues and family support workers where appropriate
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory and Council guidelines
• Apply knowledge of Children Act 1989, Working Together 2018, child protection procedures, and local policies
• Participate in reflective supervision, continuous professional development, and team initiatives

Essential Requirements

• Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)
• Social Work England registration (current and active)
• Experience working with Children in Care, child protection, or statutory child social work
• Strong risk assessment, case analysis, and report writing skills
• Ability to manage a complex caseload and work to statutory deadlines
• Excellent communication, multi-agency collaboration, and relationship-building skills
• Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and promoting positive outcomes for children
