Children and Young People, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) - Trainee Parent Training Practitioner - 3 posts available.



Venus has an exciting opportunity for successful candidates to gain post graduate qualification in evidence-based psychotherapies for children and young people.

Venus is a Sefton-based charity that provides support to our local community, families, and individuals. As part of the charity and based at the Star Centre, we offer support and therapeutic interventions specifically for children, young people and their families.

The Trainee Parent Training (PT) Practitioner post will help develop key skills required to be an evidence-based practitioner working in Parent Training. Students will obtain clinical experience in Incredible Years group delivery and individual home coach training for children between 3 and 10 years old and their parents/carers. The course will consist of model specific supervision in Incredible Years and include teaching on PT skills-based workshops, as well as evidence-based theory and literature relating to supporting the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children between the ages of 3 and 10 years old and their parents/carers. Successful completion of the course will enable the award of the graduate or post graduate diploma, plus eligibility for Individual Evidence Based Parent Practitioner BABCP Accreditation.

Qualification:



On successful completion of the course, students will gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Treatments for Parenting for Conduct Disorder plus eligibility for Individual Evidence Based Parent Practitioner BABCP Accreditation.

Applicants should have:

? a minimum of 2 years of working in Parenting/Children, Young People, Family Work.

? a recognised core profession or ability to evidence equivalent knowledge and skills.

? for postgraduate diploma, trainees should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification (level 6).

Applicants without one of these approved core professions will be required to evidence a minimum of 4 years of equivalent knowledge and skills using the BABCP's Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSA) framework. The BABCP website provides an example of KSA requirements at

Applicants need to be able to start the Post Graduate training programme taught academic dates in January 2026 (dates to be confirmed) and commit to attendance at all University based taught and self-study days required by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) Psychological Therapies Training Centre.

You will work within the service for the remaining days of the week using your newly developed skills to ensure you gain the necessary clinical practice hours to fulfil the academic programme. This is 100 hours of modality and case specific practice for the part time courses.

Job Purpose



As a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) trainee, the post holder will deliver evidence based, client centred care to children and young people with mental health problems within the THRIVE Framework for service delivery and in line with their training programme.

The post holder will work under supervision whilst undertaking their PGDip. with the CYP/IAPT Psychological Therapies Training Centre. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families referred to the service, using the core principles of CYP/IAPT practice along with an evidence based intervention consistent with the course they are attending.

The post- holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the CYP/IAPT curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

As the post is identified within the CYPMH strategy, it is expected the role will continue to develop in line with national and local initiatives.

The post holder will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users' and their carers.
