We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team in a Children's Residential Care setting. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the home, ensuring that high standards of care, safety, and well-being are maintained for all children and young people. This position requires strong leadership skills, a compassionate approach to working with vulnerable children, and the ability to manage individual care plans effectively. The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager while fostering a positive and nurturing environment for both staff and residents.
Duties
Supervise and support care staff in delivering exceptional, child-focused care that meets the emotional, physical, and developmental needs of children and young people.
Manage daily operations within the home, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and adherence to organisational policies.
Collaborate with therapeutic professionals to develop, implement, and review individual care plans tailored to each child's unique needs and circumstances.
Provide leadership and guidance to team members, promoting a culture of teamwork, respect, and professional development.
Conduct regular assessments of the children's well-being, making adjustments to care plans and routines as necessary.
Assist in training and mentoring new staff members on best practices in therapeutic childcare and operational procedures.
Handle any issues or concerns raised by children, families, or external stakeholders promptly and professionally.
Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed within the home, creating a safe and supportive environment for children and staff alike.
Experience
Previous experience in a supervisory role within a children's residential care setting is essential.
A background in supporting children who have experienced trauma or display complex behaviours is highly desirable, with a strong understanding of therapeutic care plans and safeguarding practices.
Proven leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to effectively manage and inspire a diverse team.
Relevant qualifications in childcare, social care, or a related field are advantageous (e.g., Level 3 or Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards in a fast-paced environment.
