Job Purpose:



Manage the staff and resources of the Home, to provide a safe, positive living experience that promotes the welfare of the resident young people Ensure that the home consistently provides a high quality of service to its users Liaise with the Responsible Individual and carry out delegated tasks as required Ensure that all staff receive regular supervision, appraisals and continuousprofessional development This role includes an expectation of on call and out of hours working.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:



Responsible for leading and managing the home in a way that delivers the ethos, outcomes and approach set out in the home's Statement of Purpose. Responsible for leading and managing a team which provides high quality care for all young people living in the home. Responsible for regularly monitoring and reviewing the quality of the care provided by the home. Fulfill the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead and ensure that all staff are aware of their safeguarding and child protection responsibilities including the companies 'Whistle Blowing policy' Oversee, on a day-to-day basis, the safety, care, and development of all residents Oversee the monitoring and implementation of each resident's Relevant Plans In order to ensure each young person's needs are met the Registered Manager is responsible for seeking to develop the home's effective working relationships with each young person's placing authority and with other relevant persons which may include services, individuals (including parents), agencies, organisations and establishments that work with children/young people in the local community, e.g. police, schools, health and youth offending teams Ensure that all staff work as a team to achieve positive outcomes for the residents, throughout the placement, in line with their individual care and placement plans and Children's Homes Quality Standards Oversight and control of young people's records in the team to ensure it is undertaken to the satisfaction of Commissioners and all relevant external authorities Responsible for the professional development and training of the staff within the home. Actively promote and adhere to our Equality and Diversity Policy Maintain and develop knowledge and understanding of issues relating to equality, diversity and inclusion in order to implement the company's policies in this area and at all times carry out managerial and practice responsibilities which are consistent with this policy

Activities:



Ensure a high standard of provision of management, development and co- ordination of the home Enable young peoples' active involvement in the planning and evaluation of delivery of services and activities by championing Participation and Inclusion to gain their contribution in ways appropriate to their age and experience Proactively develop and maintain productive working relationships with partners and other stakeholders in delivering an effective service to young people and families Follow an agreed safer recruitment process for recruitment of the home's staff team. Shortlist; interview and recommend for employment (or not), potential new employees Oversee the induction of new staff Ensure that all staff understand their responsibilities in regard to safeguarding and protecting the young people in our care as part of their initial induction, through regular supervision and team meetings Be aware of and implement our 'Whistle Blowing policy' if necessary and appropriate to do so Hold team meetings in order to share information, practice development and share any arising issues with the Responsible Individual for resolution. Provide and record high quality formal supervision on a regular basis, to designated staff and ensure that other members of the team are receiving regular supervision of an acceptably high standard. Ensure that dates of supervision sessions are advised to HR and that the relevant supervision notes are typed, signed and sent to HR Copies of supervision notes will be held securely on each member of staff's personnel file and will only generally be seen by the relevant manager and member of staff to whom they relate. However, in disciplinary and capability situations supervision notes will be seen by other Managers and the HR Manager. Ensure the development of a programme of regular staff appraisals, making appropriate recommendations and ensuring that the appraisals are carried out Ensure that our Policies and procedures are implemented Ensure that each member of staff has a personal training and development profile Maintain and develop staff competence in their activities by keeping them up to date with relevant developments in social care, education, health and other relevant legislation, and all relevant internal policies and procedures Assist the Responsible Individual and HR with the management of staff training Ensure that a development plan for the Home is implemented and it's impact on the quality of care reviewed Ensure that enough suitably trained staff (including someone in a management role) are on duty to meet the assessed needs of all young people in the home Promote a culture and ethos where the complex needs of the individual young people and the group are met. Quality assure transition plans and ensure that these are aspirational in terms of supporting young people to achieve. Role model and coach others in order to develop each individual and the team's capability in practice skills Monitor and review the work practices of all staff in their day-to-day work with the young people, parents, social workers, other agencies and the public Account to the Registered Provider for any expenditure, especially if monies are spent on items not agreed in advance Oversee each area of budgetary spending, ensure that Key Workers are keeping within agreed limits and advise the Responsible Individual and Registered Provider as to the future financial needs of the Home Ensure safe and effective use is made of information systems Ensure that employees of the company (and any temporary staff) are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety Act 1974, to carry out agreed safety procedures in maintaining a safe environment for all people involved in the company Ensure that all Fire, Health and Safety Procedures are implemented by monitoring and reviewing the implementation of procedures Ensure that the reports of any complaints, accidents or incidents are accurately completed in a timely fashion Maintain own continuous professional development and attend training opportunities, as required Identify, in conjunction with senior members of the team, future needs for the development of the home and the services it provides and make proposals for any new work, identifying clearly the personnel, physical and financial resources required Undertake such other duties which are within the competency of the post holder which they may be asked to perform from time to time.
