SWIS (South West Intervention Services) are excited to announce we will shortly be opening a brand new children's home in Smithaleigh, Devon - so we are now recruiting for the role of Team Leader, to help 'make this house a home', which will be for up to 4 children who may have emotional or behavioural difficulties.

40 hours per week + sleep-ins (hours are on a rolling rota basis)
Hourly rate:
13.53-14.87 (dependent on experience)
Overview:
Leading the shift when on duty and work as a member of the homes staff team to safeguard children and young people, providing them with the highest standards of necessary support, care, and guidance to enable them to live a positive and meaningful life as they approach adulthood by facilitating their physical and emotional development.
You will be expected to be a role model to the staff team as well as the young people. Modelling appropriate behaviour, professional conduct and upskilling junior staff members. This includes supporting the induction of new Residential Childcare Practitioners and enhancing the development of the home.
We are committed to safeguarding children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure.
Roles and Responsibilities in brief:
Ensure all children have their needs met, their welfare promoted at all times and that they are safeguarded from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation
Maintain high standards of good practice at all times, establishing purposeful and constructive relationships and appropriate role modelling so as to assist with children's development, activities, and education
Provide a caring and nurturing environment where children are and feel safe from harm, and ensuring the home is maintained to a high standard
Lead shifts on a rota basis alongside the Assistant Manager and other Team Leaders
Lead in the development of up-to-date care plans and risk assessments and ensure this information is understood and followed by the team
Be a first line in monitoring the effectiveness of care plans and other documents, and delegating updates to other members of the care team as needed
Create timetables, activity planners and set appropriate boundaries for children
Positively challenge unacceptable behaviour and support children's emotional regulation, ensuring a timely response to any children's concerns
Ensure that the home you are working in is run in accordance with all statutory, regulatory and standards requirements including Children's Home Regulations 2015; Care Standards Act 2000; SWIS Policies and Procedures - working within the Ofsted regulatory framework
Lead debriefs at the end of shifts, supporting feedback to the senior management team any necessary information is accurately and swiftly passed on
Provide on-call cover on a rotational basis with other Team Leaders and Managers

Essential Requirements:
Experience working in a residential children's home
Experience working with children with emotional or behavioural needs
Resilience and a 'can do' attitude
Clear communication
Full UK driving licence and your own vehicle
Willingness to be flexible and be available to work sleep-in shifts
Have the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship (unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship)
Ideal Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or similar qualification
