Role Overview
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining a calm, safe, and supportive environment during the night. You'll ensure the welfare of the children, monitor routines, and respond appropriately to any incidents or needs that arise overnight. This role is vital in ensuring the home operates smoothly 24 hours a day and that every child feels secure and cared for.
Key Responsibilities
o Safeguard and monitor children through the night, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Support children who may wake, offering reassurance and emotional support.
Maintain detailed, accurate records and handover information for daytime staff.
Carry out domestic and administrative tasks to ensure the home remains safe, tidy, and well-prepared for the following day.
o Follow care plans, behaviour support plans, and safeguarding procedures at all times.
Respond to incidents or emergencies calmly and in line with policy.
Participate in training, supervision, and team meetings to promote consistent, high-quality care.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience in a children's residential care setting or similar environment (preferred).
A caring, calm, and professional approach, especially during challenging situations.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain focus during night hours.
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 in Children's Residential Care or equivalent (or willingness to achieve this).
Enhanced DBS check (covered by Nurturing Nests).
First Aid and Safeguarding training (provided if not already held).
