An exciting opportunity has arisen for committed individuals with excellent customer service skills to join 'The Book Bus' Mobile library shop. We are seeking applications for a Mobile Library Driver/Customer Engagement Assistant working from our Derby location traveling within the midlands.

This role involves both driving a mobile library vehicle and delivering excellent customer service at a variety of different events including school book fairs, country shows and festivals. The successful applicants will be offered full-time role. The Book Bus specialises in children's and adolescent's books. Each driver will do a 3 days week of 12 hours.

Full clean UK driving licence obtained prior to January 1997, or a clean C2 category licence if obtained post January 1997. The post holder will also require a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (training can be provided subject to T&Cs and minimum employment period) and a current valid driving license to drive a vehicle up to 7.5 tonnes.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Roles may include:

Ensuring the vehicle is fit for purpose by undertaking regular routine maintenance checks

Taking responsibility for the security and cleanliness of the vehicle

Engage with all customers in a friendly, helpful manner

Ability to promote the service and stock to individuals and communities

Ability to lift books and other heavy items repeatedly for shelving and packing purposes

Maintain stock in good order and make sure everything is tidy and well presented

Be responsible for delivering services that comply with equality policy, procedure and legislation. Work to and within Health & Safety procedures and use good practice to maintain security of facilities and the health & safety of self, colleagues and public using our premises
