About the Role
As a
Day Support Worker
, you'll provide hands-on, personalised care tailored to the needs of each child or young person you support. Working a structured 2-week rolling rota, you'll work 4 shifts one week (including a weekend day) and 3 shifts the next, each from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM.
Your role will involve supporting with personal care, encouraging daily living skills, and promoting personal and social development through meaningful activities. You'll also work closely with families, colleagues, and professionals to ensure every aspect of care puts the young person's wellbeing at the centre.
Key Responsibilities
Provide personalised support, including personal care and daily living activities
Develop, follow, and contribute to individual care plans
Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment
Work in partnership with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Keep accurate records and report changes in behaviour or wellbeing promptly
Travel when needed to support young people in different settings
Facilitate activities that encourage confidence, interaction, and growth
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Experience supporting children or young people (residential or similar setting preferred)
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
Empathy, patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping others
Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Flexibility to work a rota including weekends and evenings
Team player with a collaborative approach
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People's Workforce
First aid certification
Experience supporting children with complex or challenging behaviours
Full driving licence
