Job Overview


We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our experienced and growing team.

In this role, you will provide essential support to children who need guidance, nurturing and compassionate individuals to help them to overcome Adverse Childhood Experiences. You will be a safe, supportive adult with their best interests at heart, and will approach their day to day care with curiosity, patience, empathy and acceptance.

We have a trauma-informed approach to care and care delivery, with a strong focus on building positive and safe relationships that allow young people to thrive.

You will assist young people in daily activities and implement and deliver on agreed care plans tailored to their individual needs. Your primary focus will be on fostering a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the well-being and development of the children in your care. You will have and develop sound understanding of risk and risk management, with an unwavering focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for our young people.

Duties



Assist children with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety and wellbeing. Implement and monitor care plans, adapting them as necessary to meet the evolving needs of each child. Provide emotional support and encouragement, helping children build confidence and independence. Maintain accurate records of each child's progress and any incidents that may occur. Communicate effectively with children, families, and other professionals involved in their care. Drive to various locations as required for activities or appointments, ensuring safe transport for the children. Collaborate with colleagues to create engaging activities that promote learning and development. Attend relevant training and Team Meetings to aid delivery of care and promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement. Work a shift pattern that includes Sleep In duties, covering 365 days of the year.

Skills



Experience working with children in a supportive or educational or similar setting is highly desirable. Robust knowledge of safeguarding and contextualised risk and current trends in Residential care is desirable. A valid driving licence is essential for transporting children as needed. Knowledge of childcare principles and practices, including the ability to develop and implement care plans. Knowledge of the Children's Home Regulations (2015) and Quality Standards. Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted and how they inspect us. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, families, and team members. Proficiency in IT to maintain records and communicate efficiently within the team and other professionals as needed and in line with Regulations. A patient and empathetic approach towards children's' needs, fostering a positive environment for growth and unconditional acceptance. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and are committed to providing high-quality support within a caring framework. A recognised Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Children and Young People: Residential Practitioner (or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards and achieve within 24 months.
