Support Worker
to join the team in a small, nurturing 3 bed residential children's home for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in Ilford, Essex.
About the role:
The successful candidate will work alongside the Team & Deputy & Registered Manager to ensure high-quality care, safeguard children, and lead shifts effectively. You will act as a role model for the team, providing guidance, support, and stability to both staff and young people.
Key Responsibilities
Manage shifts, ensuring all aspects of the home's daily routines and care delivery run smoothly.
Provide direct care and support to children, using trauma-informed approaches to promote emotional, physical, and social development.
Assist with care planning, key working sessions, and the completion of accurate daily records and reports.
Support the Deputy and Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff members, promoting best practice and professional development.
Contribute to safeguarding procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of all children at all times.
Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, families, social workers, and other professionals.
Take part in the on-call rota and cover shifts where required.
Requirements
Level 3 Diploma
in Children and Young People's Workforce (Residential Childcare) - or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years' experience
in a residential childcare setting, preferably supporting young people with EBD.
Experience in a senior or shift-leading role (desirable).
Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and relevant childcare legislation.
Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
Full UK Driving Licence
Salary:
29, 120 plus sleeps paid at 40, working 1 on 2 off or 2 on 4 off shifts plus career progression opportunities and extensive benefits package.
