About the Role
As a
Day Support Worker
, you'll provide personalised, hands-on care tailored to the individual needs of children and young people. You will work a 2-week rolling rota, with 4 shifts one week (including a weekend day) and 3 shifts the following week, each running from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with personal care, supporting daily living activities, and encouraging social and personal development through engaging activities. You'll work closely with families and professionals, forming a collaborative network that puts the wellbeing of the young people first.
Key Responsibilities
Assist individuals with personal care and daily living tasks designed around their unique needs
Develop, follow, and contribute to personalised care plans ensuring goals are met
Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment in childcare and community settings
Communicate effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
Maintain accurate records and report any behavioural or condition changes promptly
Travel to various locations as needed to deliver support services
Facilitate recreational activities that promote social interaction and personal growth
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Experience supporting children or young people, preferably in residential or similar settings
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
Empathy, patience, resilience, and a true passion for making a difference
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
Flexibility to work a shift rota including weekends and evenings
Ability to work well within a team environment
Desirable:
Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People's Workforce
First aid certification
Experience managing challenging behaviour
Full driving licence
