To be the lead worker accountable for the day-to-day work of the support workers.
To ensure the physical, emotional and other daily care needs of children and young people are provided within a supportive, homely, professional and caring environment.
To work within Government Guidance; Ofsted regulations, the Local Authority's guidance and the company's policies and procedures to meet National Standards and meet the needs and achieve good outcomes for the children and young people in the homes.

Principal Responsibilities
1.
To provide supervision to the support workers.
2.
Formulate rotas to ensure shifts are covered.
3.
Oversee the provision of daily, missing and incident reports.
4.
To ensure that care is provided within a professional, positive, and homely environment which integrates race, spirituality, gender, disability and sexual orientation and meets individual needs.
5.
To establish positive relationships with our children and young people, assessing needs and working jointly with other professionals to produce, implement, deliver, and revise individual care plans.
6.
To work with young people individually and in groups with the aim of enhancing relationships, self-confidence, social skills, manage behaviour and develop life skills.
7.
To organise and participate in activities for young people.
8.
To work to provide a positive, welcoming, and stimulating environment for the young people including carrying out cleaning, gardening and other domestic duties.
9.
To adhere to all reporting and recording procedures and ensure the production of timely written reports and correspondence to a professional level.
10.
To communicate effectively with other agencies, professionals, and families.
11.
To be responsible for dealing with petty cash and other purchasing duties in accordance with established procedures and policies, ensuring that all petty cash dealt with is accurately recorded and reported.
12.
To act within corporate parenting responsibilities to children and young people, providing guidance and support to children and young people whilst always maintaining professional boundaries.
13.
To work as a young person's key worker, ensuring key working sessions are carried out in a timely and appropriate manner.
14.
To oversee and ensure all duties associated with running a children's home during a shift are completed to a high standard. Such duties include logbook entries, completing running records, updating weekly planners, fire safety and health and safety checks.
15.
Ensuring that all other duties commensurate with running a children's home are completed to a high standard. Such duties include household chores, light gardening duties, weekly food shopping and preparing culturally appropriate meals.
16.
To ensure necessary liaison and communication takes place within the home and outside with families, other members of the company, schools, other agencies, and the local community.
17.
To attend, with guidance, court proceedings, child protection conferences, panels etc. and contribute reports and information as requested.
18.
To act immediately upon any suspicion, evidence, allegation, or concern in relation to safeguarding in accordance with safeguarding children and young people policies and procedures.
19.
To work on designated projects as required and to keep abreast of developments within the profession.
20.
To be included in an out of hours rota cover by phone across each of our homes.

2 Other Duties
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by your Line Manager or anyone else designated by the Chief Executive Officer, as necessary in keeping with your contract. To work in a flexible way to ensure that workload is completed and to undertake any other jobs commensurate with the seniority of the post.
3 Discretion to Act
To exercise discretion in the performance of the duties of the post, to use best practice and to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
Nothing in this is intended to authorise the post-holder to undertake responsibilities that belong properly to members of the Management Team unless properly authorised to do so by the Chief Executive directly or through an appropriate manager.
