All about the Role





An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Family Safeguarding Service as a Social Care Child Practitioner. The Family Safeguarding teams support children and their families through Child in Need and Child Protection intervention. You will work alongside qualified social workers to support in promoting the welfare of children and young people, their families and the services they receive. The role will be to work directly with families and young people in the family home and community. You will be supporting parent/carers to develop their skills in developing routines, boundaries and managing behaviours that challenge. You will also be undertaking direct work with children and young people to ensure their voice and views are at the heart of everything we do. The role will involve extensive interactions with key partner agencies, including education and health, to further promote and achieve sustainable change within children and young peoples lives. The role will involve direct work with children, young people and adults in an array of settings, including supporting supervised family time.



All about our Team





There are 7 Family Safeguarding Teams within the service. These are tight knit, supportive and creative teams, keen to find effective solutions for complex circumstances. The teams work closely together on a day to day basis where no 2 days are ever the same. There are clear structures within each team that offers support, assistance and guidance in the day to day role. The Family Safeguarding Team works closely with our partners in the Assessment Service, Child In Care service and Young Peoples Safeguarding service. The teams have clear and robust understanding of the statutory duties and frameworks in place that inform the high standard support offered to children and young people and their carers.

We are looking for someone with a passion to support and enable every child and young person to experience safe and supportive care to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will have experience of working with children and able be able to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges, children, young people and their families face. Someone able to demonstrate creativity in working with challenge, resistance whilst maintaining that positive momentum. Someone who is able to communicate clearly as they advocate for best outcomes to an array of audiences both in writing and verbally.
