About the Role
Worcestershire County Council is looking for an experienced Children's Social Worker to join their Through Care Team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and young people by safeguarding and promoting their welfare, supporting them to achieve the best possible outcomes.
You'll work in close partnership with children, families, and multi-agency networks to address social, emotional, and environmental needs, ensuring that the voice of the child and their family is at the centre of all planning.
Key Responsibilities
As a Through Care Social Worker, your main duties will include:

• Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people across Worcestershire.
• Working in partnership with children, families, and multi-agency networks to address identified needs.
• Undertaking statutory assessments in line with legislation, policy, and social work theory, operating with a high level of professional autonomy.
• Gathering and analysing information to complete robust assessments and make informed decisions regarding children's care and placements.
• Fulfilling all statutory responsibilities relating to children and young people receiving services.
• Representing the local authority in court proceedings, including attending hearings and providing evidence when required.
• Attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings, case reviews, and planning discussions.
• Developing and reviewing outcome-focused care plans that support children and young people to achieve stability and independence.
• Participating in day duty tasks on a rota basis, including telephone calls, visits, and meetings.

Essential Requirements

• Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent).
• Social Work England registration (active).
• Minimum 3 years' post-qualified experience in Children's Services, ideally within Through Care, Looked After Children, or Leaving Care teams.
• Strong knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice in children's social work.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and care planning skills.
• Ability to work flexibly and manage a reduced caseload effectively within a part-time schedule.
• A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
