History of the Organisation:



Established in 1987 as a women's refuge by a woman who had experienced domestic abuse, our organisation has grown into a local, independent charity dedicated to addressing and improving all aspects of domestic abuse. While we primarily support women and children, our services have evolved to offer a comprehensive range of interventions for adults and children affected by domestic abuse. We work in close partnership with a broad network of organisations to ensure holistic, coordinated support throughout West Lancashire.

24 hour temporary safe accommodation and support for women and children Outreach and community support for adults, children and young people Counselling Group work programmes 24-hour helpline Information and Drop in Centre Connect and Respect School programme

About the role:



Based within The Haven our dedicated children and young people's space. The role is to provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children and young people living in the refuge, ensuring their emotional, social, and developmental needs are met while their parent/carer receives support. The role involves providing support and advice to children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, who are living in safe accommodation or in the community. Using a trauma-informed approach to support their needs through one to one work and group work programmes. It will involve helping them to identify and develop coping strategies to understand their experiences of domestic abuse whilst supporting their safety and wellbeing. You will work closely with families, schools and other agencies to ensure that the children and young people are receiving the support they need.

Key Tasks



Plan and deliver age-appropriate play and learning activities that promote emotional well-being and resilience within Safe Accommodation and community settings. Create a safe and welcoming playroom environment that encourages creativity and positive interaction. Provide support before, during and after school, including school holidays. Support children and young people to build the knowledge and skills they need to form healthy, positive relationships. Provide structured interventions focusing on education, emotional resilience, and peer support using age-appropriate resources. Deliver evidence-based group work programmes and activities to develop the parent and child relationship. Work alongside safe accommodation and outreach staff to assist with one to one and group work support.

Support



To provide one to one emotional and practical support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse within their families or own relationships. Develop and deliver one to one support sessions focusing on healthy relationships, friendships, online safety, consent and personal boundaries. To deliver age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate interventions including structured and free play activities. Support children and young people to access community groups and opportunities to develop social networks. Support a whole family approach to promote parental understanding of the child's needs and the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people. Work in partnership with other agencies to provide support needed to children and young people. Complete needs assessment and support plans alongside children and young people Plan and develop after school and school holiday activity programmes.

Safeguarding and Reporting



Ensure the safety and welfare of all children in line with safeguarding policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents and observations. Maintain high quality records and reporting of support provided. To seek regular service user feedback and evaluation to support delivery and practice. Ensure that all administrative systems and procedures are adhered to. To assist in the collection and completion of all monitoring and reporting processes.

General



Work as a member of the team to ensure effective delivery of service and individual work plans, including working across teams where appropriate Maintain a working knowledge and comply with TLC policies and procedures including health and safety Engage in supervision, performance reviews and training To provide services in an anti-discriminatory manner in accordance with TLC's Equality and diversity policy At all times represent The Liberty Centre in a professional, approachable and service user focused manner, ensuring that confidentiality is observed

The role will be based at our safe accommodation and will require travel to our other local offices and within the West Lancs area.

Qualifications:



GCSE (Maths and English) - Desirable

Childcare, playwork or childcare (Level 3 or equivalent) - Desirable

Experience:



Experience of working with children and young people affected by domestic abuse - Essential

Experience of working in a multi-agency approach - Essential

Experience of delivering evidence-based interventions - Desirable

Experience of risk management and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures - Essential

Experience of keeping accurate and comprehensive records in various formats and to be confident in Microsoft applications and case management systems - Desirable

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 per week
