About the Role



We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated

Cinema Manager

to lead the daily operations of our vibrant Oxford cinema, which also features a popular in-house cafe and bar. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, outgoing, and energetic individual who thrives in a customer-focused environment and has a strong blend of hospitality, technical, and leadership skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership



Oversee all day-to-day cinema operations, including screenings, cafe and bar service, staff scheduling, and venue presentation. Ensure the highest levels of customer service throughout the cinema and cafe/bar areas. Implement and maintain effective operational processes to maximise efficiency and profitability.

Team Management



Lead, motivate, and support a diverse team of front-of-house, cafe/bar, and technical staff. Recruit, train, and develop team members to deliver exceptional service and uphold brand standards. Conduct performance reviews and manage staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage across all departments.

Hospitality & Cafe/Bar Oversight



Manage cafe and bar operations, including stock control, supplier relationships, food hygiene standards, and licensing compliance. Support the development of seasonal menus, promotions, and events to enhance customer engagement and revenue.

Technical & Facility Oversight



Oversee the cinema's technical operations, including projection equipment, sound systems, and digital content delivery. Troubleshoot technical issues or escalate to relevant support teams as needed. Ensure health and safety procedures are rigorously followed throughout the venue.

Event Creation & Management



Plan, develop, and deliver a range of events including special screenings, Q&As, themed nights, private hires, and community activities. Collaborate with film distributors, local partners, and internal teams to bring creative concepts to life. Manage event logistics, staffing, promotion, and on-the-day execution to ensure successful delivery.

Community Outreach & Partnerships



Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, universities, arts organisations, and community groups. Develop outreach initiatives that strengthen the cinema's role within the local community. Promote inclusive cultural programming and encourage wider community participation.

Customer & Community Engagement



Create a welcoming and lively atmosphere for guests, fostering a sense of community and encouraging repeat visits. Handle customer feedback effectively, resolving issues promptly and professionally.

Financial & Administrative Duties



Manage budgets, financial reporting, and cost control across cinema and cafe/bar operations. Ensure accurate cash handling, stock management, and compliance with company policies. Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and performance reviews.

Essential Skills & Experience



Proven management experience in hospitality, leisure, entertainment, or a related environment. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Food, cafe, or bar experience, with a solid understanding of food safety and licensing requirements. Technical aptitude, ideally with experience handling cinema projection or AV equipment (training can be provided). Experience in event creation, planning, and management. Strong community engagement or outreach experience. Excellent communication skills and an outgoing, vibrant personality that energises staff and customers alike. A passion for film, customer service, and creating memorable guest experiences.
