The Job Mission
This is a hybrid role, and we are considering candidates within a commutable distance to Bridgwater. A relocation package is available to support the move where needed. You will play a key role in ensuring design changes during tunnelling and marine works are safely reviewed, accepted and delivered. Your future team is working closely with both design and construction stakeholders, providing technical expertise to safeguard nuclear safety and construction quality.
Key responsibilities include:
Review and accept design changes raised by contractors through formal processes.
Provide technical expertise on reinforced concrete design in tunnelling environments.
Manage construction configuration and design change documentation.
Ensure golden thread between design, safety case, and operational requirements.
Liaise with the design office and construction team for technical consistency.
Ensure CDM aspects are fully discharged during the construction period.
Carry out surveillance on design changes to support nuclear safety acceptance.
Support the release and handover of design packages for construction.
Draft action plans and programmes to achieve project objectives.
Communicate progress, risks, and mitigations effectively to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Strong knowledge of secondary lining in tunnels and shafts.
Expertise in pipe jacking methods and structures.
Tunnelling design experience (TBM, pipe jack, linings).
Working knowledge of Eurocode 2 concrete design standards.
Experience with hazard and accidental load design.
Knowledge of UK CDM regulations in regulated industries.
Advanced degree in civil or structural engineering.
+ Working towards or Chartered Engineer status (ICE or IStructE).

Knowledge of repair methods for RC underground structures.
Offshore structure design experience.
Familiarity with construction change procedures.
Experience in large-scale, multi-cultural industrial projects.
Tunnelling Safety Training Scheme (TSTS) qualification.
