What your new role will entail;

Our thriving, multidisciplinary Water team in England and Wales are looking for Civil Engineers to join our growing teams within our St Albans, Croydon, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield and Leeds offices. Our Water Team is involved in high profile, industry leading infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas and we are working on a variety of significant projects for Local and National Government, Water and Sewerage Authorities and other clients. This includes schemes at all stages of the design and construction process from feasibility, through design to operation, maintenance and asset management.

Key responsibilities of the position include;

  • Work with other team members as part of an energetic and diverse team to deliver benefits to the communities that we serve, undertaking technical work, site work, and project management.
  • Undertake technical and feasibility studies to appraise the practicability and buildability of alternative solutions in aspects such as potable water, foul water, surface water and attenuation requirements, including appropriate calculations closely interfacing with other disciplines in the delivery of engineering design and the preparation of technical reports.
  • Undertake numerical analysis including the use of computer-based programmes to assist with the study of potable, surface and wastewater systems.
  • Undertake structural analysis and design such as determination of the design situation and load cases, including calculation and use of analysis software.
  • Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and pipe networks with attention to safety in design, such as creating a Designer\'s Risk Assessment document and working with technicians to produce and consolidate final working drawings.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in regulatory legislation, standards and guidelines that may affect design work.
  • Opportunities for working on site and site visits, to develop a wider understanding of how designs are implemented.

The Water team brings together the skills of project managers, hydrologists, water scientists, numerical modellers and civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers. We do this to provide integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Our work ranges from high profile infrastructure schemes through to locally significant projects that make a real difference to communities. We work with Water Companies, the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and private clients in the UK and overseas. Our team works to imagine a better solution and to deliver it.

You will be joining a dynamic local team of high performing civil engineers ranging in experience from apprentice to director level, within a larger national Water Engineering team. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and support to develop and work towards professional development goals. Qualifications

Here\'s what we will need from you;
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification, or demonstratable equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience within the water sector working for a consultancy.
  • Working towards chartership or incorporated status with a relevant institution e.g. ICE, CIWEM etc.
  • Experience of undertaking engineering assessments, options appraisals, engineering calculations and / or economic appraisal.
  • Experience of outline and / or detailed design, preferably of wastewater / water treatment schemes and / or flood risk management or drainage schemes.
