The Role
As a Civil Operative (Cabling), you will be part of a
2-person civils team
delivering essential works on
LV and HV cable systems
within highways and substations. Reporting to the Haverfordwest depot, you will support the safe and efficient delivery of excavation, cabling, and reinstatement activities.
What you'll be doing
Assist with the work involved of preparing trenches for LV and HV cable
systems and associated works to the highest standards. Ensure compliance with Balfour Beatty and National Grid standards and
manufacturer specifications. Adhere to all health & safety regulations and best practices.
Work effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality results.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team working on essential
electricity reinforcement and maintenance projects in the Swansea and Bridgend
area. Completing Site Assist permits to excavate.
Carrying out checklist and relevant documentation prior to excavation
works Excavating trenches/Joint bays as part of National grid framework
reinstatement of HV Cable Systems, associated accessories and support
steelwork To ensure personal safety, safety of other personnel and members of the
public at all times Work within the guidelines of the Company Safety Policy, Quality and
Security procedures Set personal examples in all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
Ensure all personal protective equipment is clean, serviceable and worn as required
Ensure all carriageway and footway excavations are correctly signed guarded and lit
Report and not operate any unsafe plant, equipment or vehicles
Maintaining personal cleanliness and hygiene
Immediately inform a senior person of any hazard that places personnel or public at risk
Only authorised persons use plant and equipment
Cleanliness / Security of all vehicles, plant and equipment
Interacts with: Direct team members and supervisors
Third party providers including Sub Contractors
National Grid
External customers
Who we're looking for
Essential:
Experience in working on the Electrical network
Excavator Qualification EUSR/NPORS/CPCS
Experience in working with manual handling/ physical environment
General knowledge of health and safety requirements
Experience in using hand tools correctly
Ability to follow functional instructions in English language both spoken
and written; carrying them out reliably and efficiently Experience of working in a team environment
Flexible approach to activities on site
Desirable:
Experience of cabling
Valid U.K Clean Driving Licence
Construction Experience.
Excavator and Dumper Qualifications
Streetworks (NRSWA)
EUSR CAT 1
