Role Overview
Gigawatt Industries Ltd is a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP) delivering nationwide EV charging infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced Civils / Groundworks Team Leader to head up a 3-man team delivering ICP and civils works across the UK. This role involves leading site-based operations, ensuring health & safety compliance, setting out works to drawings, and coordinating with Project Managers to deliver trenching, substation foundations, ducting, and reinstatement to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a 3-man civils team on EV charging and ICP projects nationwide.
Supervise excavation, ducting, POC joint holes, substation bases, feeder pillar bases, and reinstatement works.
Set out works accurately from construction and utility drawings.
Ensure all works comply with DNO/IDNO requirements, UK H&S standards, and Gigawatt's quality processes.
Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and report back to the Project Manager.
Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
Ensure permits-to-dig, RAMS, and site safety documentation are followed.
Operate plant machinery when required (NPORS/CPCS).
Act as the point of contact for clients and DNO representatives on site.
Mentor and support Groundworkers and Labourers within the team.
Minimum Qualifications & Certifications
CSCS card
CPCS / NPORS
(plant operator)
SWQR (Street Works Qualification Register)
Cat & Genny (Cable Avoidance Tool training)
Full UK driving licence
Advantageous Qualifications & Experience
SSSTS or SMSTS (site safety leadership qualification - highly desirable)
Experience supervising utility works and ICP projects.
Knowledge of HV/LV cable trenching, substation foundations, and reinstatement.
Prior experience on EV charging infrastructure sites.
Ideal Candidate
Proven leadership experience in civils/utility works.
Skilled in setting out works, reading technical drawings, and delivering to spec.
Safety-first mindset, with strong knowledge of RAMS and site compliance.
Flexible and willing to work away from home (accommodation provided).
Excellent communicator with both clients and site teams.
