Job Overview:



The Civil Site Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day activities on civil engineering construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. This role involves managing teams, coordinating with other contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:



Site Management:

Supervise and manage all civil works on the site, including excavations, duct runs and reinstatement. Oversee the daily operations and monitor the progress of work to ensure it aligns with the project schedule. Coordinate works with other contractors and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow. Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure that work is completed according to project specifications and safety standards.

Team Leadership:

Lead and motivate the site team, including civil operatives and subcontractors. Attend site meetings to review progress, resolve issues, and ensure proper communication across teams. Ensure the workforce is adequately trained and complies with safety protocols.

Quality Control:

Ensure that work is being carried out in compliance with the project's design, specifications, and industry standards. Perform regular inspections to monitor quality and identify any potential issues early. Liaise with the quality control team to ensure testing and inspections are conducted properly.

Health and Safety Compliance:

Maintain a high standard of health, safety, and environmental compliance on-site. Implement and enforce safety procedures and practices. Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks with the site team. Ensure all necessary permits and documentation are in place for the work activities.

Project Coordination:

Liaise with the Project Manager to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources. Report on site progress, delays, and any issues to the Project Manager. Monitor and control project costs and help identify potential cost-saving opportunities. Resolve any site-related issues that could impact the project's timeline or budget.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of site activities, daily reports, and any incidents. Ensure that all site documentation is completed in accordance with project requirements. Provide progress reports and updates to senior management.

Environmental Management:

Ensure that environmental regulations and sustainability practices are adhered to on-site. Promote the use of environmentally friendly materials and practices.

Problem-Solving:

Anticipate potential site challenges and devise solutions to prevent delays. Resolve technical and operational issues efficiently.

Key Qualifications and Skills:



Experience:


5+ years of experience in construction site management, preferably in civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

Certifications:


Health and Safety Certification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH), First Aid Certification, or any other relevant site management qualifications.

Skills:

Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent knowledge of civil engineering practices, construction methods, and materials. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and solve problems under pressure. Good knowledge of local regulations, permits, and environmental standards.

Personal Attributes:

Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety. Proactive and solution-driven approach to problem-solving. Strong organisational and time management abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:



Full-time, site-based role with standard working hours. May require occasional overtime or weekend work to meet project deadlines. Physical presence on-site is required, with some office-based work for reporting and coordination.
