The role



The Civils Supervisor is responsible for overseeing civil works, ensuring high standards of productivity, quality, and compliance with contractual requirements. This role involves coordinating with the Build Manager and ensuring that all projects are completed on schedule. A key focus is on maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency throughout all stages of the work. It is expected you maintain valid and up-to-date accreditations and that annual leave is planned in line with company policy and ensures continuous coverage preventing loss of performance and delivery.

Mobile phone, vehicle, fuel, and plant management must be diligently monitored, and strictly for business use only, with inspections, reporting, and usage checks to maintain compliance.

Staff engagement should be prioritised, with regular surveys and monthly briefings to keep the team informed. A strong emphasis on health and safety ensures compliance with regulations, thorough incident investigations, and the promotion of a positive safety culture through regular toolbox talks.

Key Responsibilities:



Monitor and measure productivity weekly. Analyse performance against assigned work targets and expected outcomes in terms of cost and revenue. Provide regular updates to Build Manager to help ensure work is completed within time and budget constraints. Conduct team audits using the company system to ensure high standards are met and maintained addressing any audit failures promptly to maintain quality standards. Manage and resolve defects within the 14-day period as per contractual requirements. Identify continuous improvement options to work towards minimising the occurrence and impact of defects. Ensure compliance with the two-week timeframe for defect resolution. Manage Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) and Section 74 notices, ensuring mitigation is provided and any third-party charges are recovered. Maintain a downward trend in FPNs and S74s by addressing issues proactively. Raise early warnings for identified risks within 24 hours and communicate them to the Build Manager. Provide regular updates on risk management and mitigation measures. Conduct regular 121 meetings with team members, along with mid-year and end-of-year appraisals, ensuring they are completed on time and to a high standard. Develop and track SMART objectives for the team, ensuring alignment with business goals. Oversee vehicle and plant management, ensuring proper recording, inspection, and reporting of any damages. Manage fuel usage, monitor mileage, and address any excessive usage through appropriate performance measures. Foster a positive work environment through regular team briefs and updates on company news and SBU4 performance. Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations. Conduct thorough investigations of all incidents and implement performance management measures as needed. Lead monthly toolbox talks, maintaining a signed attendance register for internal teams and third-party suppliers. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for self and others. Properly use, maintain, and store all tools and equipment required for civil works. Perform daily vehicle inspections at the beginning of each shift, Work effectively with team members and supervisors to deliver project goals, supporting a positive and collaborative working environment. You will maintain a personal development plan, highlighting areas where you seek further growth in your role. You will complete a Safe on Arrival form each day, wearing appropriate PPE, and fostering a positive safety culture. Site setups should comply with NRSWA standards. You will log in and out of shifts using TimeClock, assisting with location tracking and safety monitoring. You will adhere to health and safety standards as a priority; this includes. Report all incidents, accidents, or near misses to your manager, ensuring injuries are communicated. Holding up-to-date accreditations is essential for your role, and you are responsible for informing your manager when a renewal is needed so that the necessary training can be arranged.

Additional Expectations:



You are expected to arrive on time for each workday and remain until the end of your assigned shift, including any agreed-upon travel time with your manager. When taking time off, holidays should be booked in advance through the company's HR system, and it's recommended to spread holiday time throughout the year for appropriate work-life balance. If you are unable to work due to illness, it is crucial to notify your manager before the start of your shift as per company procedure.

Any company-issued mobile devices should only be used for work purposes, and fuel or spending cards are to be used exclusively for work-related expenses, with accurate vehicle registration and mileage submitted for each fueling.

Vehicles assigned to you should be kept clean and in good working order, with any damage or road traffic accidents (RTA) reported to your line manager immediately, along with the necessary details. If a third party is involved in an RTA, be sure to gather their information. documenting any defects before driving. Similarly, all assigned plant, machinery, and equipment should be kept in a serviceable condition, with defects or damage promptly reported. Inspections of plant and machinery should be completed and submitted each day before use, and all equipment must be kept secure.

Skills and Experience:



Proven experience in supervising civil works and managing contractors. Strong understanding of quality and compliance standards within the telecoms industry. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage risks proactively. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and best practices. Relevant certifications and accreditations in civil engineering or construction management. Valid driver's license.
