HGV C+E Night Shift Driver (Lamb Meat Deliveries)

Shift Pattern:

Night Shift: 3 core shifts per week, with optional additional shifts regularly available. Typically 40-50+ hours per week. Shift lengths can vary due to the multi-drop, milk-round nature of deliveries and seasonal demand fluctuations for lamb. We endeavour to keep your shift patterns, vehicles, and delivery teams consistent wherever possible.

What You'll Do:

As a night shift driver, you'll either be driving solo or working as part of a 2- or 3-person crew, making overnight, multi-drop "milk-round" style deliveries of lamb carcasses and boxed meat products primarily to butcher's shops, supermarkets, and wholesale customers across London and the Southeast.

You will perform key-drop deliveries, responsibly ensuring products are delivered safely and securely into customer premises, often involving heavy lifting. Exceptional customer service is paramount. You'll represent our business directly, helping maintain strong relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction at every drop. Conduct daily vehicle inspections for roadworthiness, diligently recording and reporting any defects. Ensure all paperwork, including tachograph records and delivery documentation, is accurate, signed, and returned promptly. Adhere strictly to UK driver regulations and accurately maintain tachograph records.

Who We're Looking For:

A valid UK HGV C+E licence with a current CPC and Tacho card. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Reliable, punctual, and able to consistently manage night shifts. Physically fit, as the role involves lifting and carrying lamb carcasses into customer premises. Confident and friendly in interactions with customers, upholding a positive image of the company.

The Realities of the Job:

This is physically demanding work requiring you to lift and carry heavy products regularly, in various weather conditions, while maintaining high standards of customer interaction. Shifts will regularly start and finish at unsociable hours due to the overnight delivery schedules and seasonal fluctuations in demand. Consistency in routes, shifts, and teams is our goal, but flexibility and adaptability are key to succeeding in this role.
