C & D Transport was founded in 1987 and has been providing quality distribution to clients for over 30 years. With our depot based out of Chard, Somerset, we are close to the major routes in and out of the South West. We are a founder member of the Palletforce network, one of the fastest-growing palletised distribution networks in the UK. With over 100 depots with a combined fleet of over 3000 vehicles and 4 million sq ft of warehousing, C & D South West and Palletforce handles thousands of pallets every night.Due to an increase in work-load, we are now looking for two additional, experienced Class 1 HGV Shunter to join our close-knit team.

About the role:

To be responsible for the safe operation of the daily yard operations for our client, including moving vehicles with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. This role involves the safe operation of vehicle shunting, forklift movement around the warehouse, storage spaces and other facilities, moving vehicles and trailers, pallets and other material around our facilities and customer premises.

You must be a responsible individual with proven experience in driving heavy goods vehicles. The goal will be to ensure that company vehicles will always be at the right place to achieve maximum efficiency. As well as maintaining a clean and tidy yard and warehouse environment. A safe worth ethic and attention to detail is crucial to this role.

This role is for a new client contract and will be on a 8 hour day, Monday to Friday.

The start time varies between two shifts, 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm. This will be on a rota basis for both candidates.

14.25 per hour and 750.00 sign on bonus. 250 upon enrolment, 250 after 3 months work and a further 250 once probation is completed.

About you:

Class C + E Driving Licence Excellent customer service and communication skills Understanding of driver's hours legislation, tachograph procedures & load restraint procedures Knowledge of or experience in a pallet network or Palletforce (advantageous) CPC Training, Driver Medicals,Eye Tests,Uniform and Bonus scheme all benefits of this position!
