Salary:

30,104.90 based on working 40 hours per week with 2 overnight trips. If you work 45 hours per week, you'll earn on average, 34,604.90, which is very realistic when accounting for traffic.

Working Pattern:

One day per week, you'll work 6:30am until late afternoon. Twice per week you'll start early afternoon and then drive to the furthest delivery destination, rest overnight, and drive back the next day. There is no weekend work in this role.

The beaches of Scarborough. The fields of Kent. The architecture of London. And of course, Strensham service station*. Our customers are based across the UK, which means driving one of our 18-tonne curtain-sided trucks lets you see all of these gorgeous places, and more.

We know that your cab will be like your home from home. That's why, unless absolutely unavoidable, you'll have your own cab that only you use. They're sleeper cabs, so all we ask is that you keep it clean and tidy. If you want to make it feel cozier and more personal, be our guest! Some of our drivers have small TVs!

You'll be contracted to work 40 hours per week (Including your paid breaks!), however, we know that in a role like this, traffic is unavoidable, and you'll often do more than this. That's why we pay time and a half overtime and say your realistic earnings are more likely based on 45 hours per week.

*Strensham service station is not one of our customers, but it's a pretty nice place to stop for some food!

A day in the life of a Class 2 HGV Driver will involve:

Helping make sure your van is loaded in a way that makes your job on the road easier. You'll know better than anyone which material you need when, and how it's best to be loaded. Delivering our material to our customers. You'll see the same customers each week, so you'll have a chance to get to know them, acting as the friendly face of AluK out on the road. You'll see on average between 3 and 7 customers per day. Driving across country, following health and safety, Road laws, and Tachograph Rules.

To be a successful Class 2 HGV Driver, You'll need:

A CPC Qualification, with evidence of compliance records. Experience driving Class 2 HGV's across the UK, especially in built up cities like London. The physical ability to help manually load and unload your vehicle inline with Health and Safety Legislation. No more than 6 points on your driving licence. The flexibility to be able to commit to our working pattern, including 2/3 nights per week of overnight stays.
