Earl Sterndale CE Primary School is a small, friendly, welcoming village school with a warm, caring family ethos. We have a vacancy for a class teacher who will work closely with our fabulous staff team and provide memorable and engaging learning experiences for our pupils which are meaningful and fun.
Our current head teacher will be retiring at the end of this term along with two part-time teachers (1 FTE), so there is the opportunity of building a purposeful and exciting curriculum which will empower the children to learn new skills and knowledge with a new head teacher and to develop a challenging and accessible learning environment. Until the new head teacher is appointed, we cannot confirm whether the role will be all KS2 or part KS2 and part KS1/EYFS.
The role would not suit an ECT but we would welcome applications from candidates who have completed their ECT induction. We would be delighted to hear from candidates who would be prepared to work in mixed-age classes. We will also consider appointing two part-time staff to accommodate this role.
We are looking for class teacher(s) who will uphold our belief that 'Making Good Decisions Together' is the way to ensure good progress, develop resilience and respect and promote creativity and an active lifestyle as well as preparing pupils for the demands and challenges of life at secondary school and beyond.
Our school is founded on developing strong, positive, supportive relationships with all stakeholders and on providing powerful individual learning experiences for each child, adapting teaching strategies to meet each child's needs.
If you think you could fit in to our small but supportive team and you are flexible and hard-working, we would love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will:

  • Have QTS.
  • Work hard to develop positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents, governors and external agencies.
  • Expect high standards of work and behaviour.
  • Inspire and challenge our pupils to make excellent progress.
  • Work with an inclusive mind-set, adapting teaching to suit the needs of all our children.
  • Become part of our close, caring team.
  • Take a lead role in developing the curriculum.
  • Be a positive role model through demonstrating kindness, care, hard work and passion for learning.
  • Have experience of teaching in mixed age classes.
  • Be prepared to teach Infants and Juniors.
We can offer:
  • Enthusiastic, engaged children who enjoy learning.
  • A commitment to professional development.
  • A close, committed, skilled team with genuine mutual support and care.
  • The exciting opportunity to be involved in shaping our school alongside established staff and a new head teacher.
We welcome visits to the school.
Please contact Daniel Holden (head teacher) or Cassie Hipkiss-Hicks (SBA) to arrange a visit:
