Applicants are invited to apply for this exciting opportunity to join the team at Llanmartin Primary School in Newport.



Llanmartin Primary School is an English-medium, community-maintained school and provides education for children aged between 3 years and 11 years. The school also has a dedicated learning resource base to support pupils with additional learning needs.

In addition to undertaking the role of classroom teacher, the role will be to provide professional leadership and management for Inclusion & Wellbeing throughout the whole school, to take on the role of ALNCo and to be accountable for high quality teaching and learning and efficient and effective use of resources for all pupils.



We are looking to appoint an innovative and inspirational leader who will thrive on the opportunity of being instrumental in the leadership of this new school and who:



Has excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Leads by high example, with a vision to promote excellent teaching and learning for pupils with additional learning needs. Is able to implement and monitor effective policies and procedures for Inclusion. Has a proven track record of raising attainment for pupils with a range of needs and is passionate about developing the potential of every child. Is forward thinking, imaginative and visionary, and able to develop a caring learning environment and high levels of wellbeing for the whole school community. Aligns, demonstrates and promotes the values and dispositions of the Professional Standards for teaching and leadership in Wales Is passionate about providing inspiring, authentic and challenging learning opportunities for all pupils, which enhances their literacy, numeracy and digital skills across the curriculum.

The appointment process will begin with a lesson observation, following which only selected candidates may be invited to return for interview. The next stage will then consist of specified tasks and an interview with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and member of the Governing Body.



Closing Date: Friday 30th January 2026 at Midday, 12.00pm

Lesson Observations: Week commencing 9th February 2026

Tasks and Interviews: Thursday 12th February 2026

Start Date: 13th April 2026 or soon as possible after

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).
