Bring your care experience into the classroom and help shape young lives.
If you have experience in care, mental health, or emotional support work and want to make a difference in education, this could be the perfect next step. This long-term classroom assistant position offers the chance to support children with additional needs in a nurturing school setting.
The Role
This is a full-time position supporting pupils across Key Stages 1-4 who need extra help to engage with their learning. You'll be part of a dedicated team, providing one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of needs including autism, social-emotional challenges, and mental health difficulties. With training and guidance from experienced educators, you'll play a crucial role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and able to learn.
The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed
This role is especially suited to individuals with a background in care, mental health support, youth work or social services. Experience supporting people with complex emotional needs or behaviours that challenge would be particularly valuable. A relevant qualification in health and social care, psychology, or a related field is desirable, but transferable experience is equally important. Most of all, you'll need patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to helping young people thrive.
The School
The school offers a calm, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop not just academically, but emotionally and socially. Staff work closely together to provide a consistent and compassionate approach, and new team members are welcomed with full support and guidance.
