Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and nurturing Key Stage 2 Classroom Support Assistant to help create an inspiring and inclusive learning environment for pupils aged 7-11. Working closely with the class teacher, you will support individual and small-group learning, assist in the delivery of engaging lessons, and help prepare classroom resources. You will also play a key role in promoting pupil wellbeing, safeguarding their welfare, and encouraging positive behaviour. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about education and committed to helping every child thrive.

Key Responsibilities:



Classroom Support:



Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons. Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils to ensure understanding and progress. Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning atmosphere. Supervise whole class sessions, prepared by the teacher, as requested by SLT. Marking of work, e.g. spelling tests

Pupil Development:



Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), as required. Encourage pupil confidence, participation, and independence in their learning. Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher.

Resource Preparation:



Help prepare teaching materials and resources for lessons, including reprographics work. Assist in setting up and tidying away equipment and learning spaces. Create and take responsibility for displays, both in the classroom and around school.

School Activities:



Supervise pupils during break times as per the rota and school trips as needed. Participate in school events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities. Attend residential trips as needed. Carry out bus duty as per rota. Maintain shared areas of the school, e.g. library.

Safeguarding:



Promote and ensure the welfare and safety of all pupils in line with school policies. Report any safeguarding concerns to the designated safeguarding lead.

Health and safety



If suitably qualified, act as a first aider. If suitably qualified, administer medicine as appropriate.

Job Requirements



Essential



Experience supporting children in a classroom or similar educational setting Understanding of Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum Ability to support teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons Skilled at supporting pupils individually and in small groups Ability to promote and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment Strong interpersonal skills; able to build supportive relationships with pupils and staff Patience, empathy and sensitivity, particularly when supporting pupils with additional needs Ability to give constructive feedback that builds confidence and self-esteem Understanding of classroom dynamics and how to support the teacher effectively Strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare Ability to supervise pupils safely during break times, trips and activities Practical skills in preparing resources, organising learning spaces and updating displays Passion for education and supporting pupil development Flexibility to support various duties across school as required Willingness to take part in co-curricular activities and wider school events Commitment to completing essential training and ongoing professional development

Desirable



Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification Experience supporting pupils with additional educational needs Experience providing constructive feedback sensitively and effectively First aid qualification, or willingness to obtain one Experience administering medication or willingness to undertake training Willingness to support residential trips Interest in developing additional skills and undertaking specialist training
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Contract length: 7 months

Pay: 12,021.00-12,022.00 per year

Expected hours: 21 per week
