Portland Marina



One of the largest marinas in the boatfolk group, Portland marina is a true one-stop-shop for boaters with wet berthing, dry stack, fuel berth and fully serviced yard. We strive to meet our customer's every need with our boatcare repair and maintenance team and boatpoint brokerage for boat sales. The marina is home to the 'Salt' restaurant, a venue with a vibrant atmosphere. Portland marina is the perfect place to quench your thirst at the end of a long day on the water! With a warm and welcoming crew and a vibrant boating community, we bring together boaters from all walks of life.

Our backdrop is the historic Portland Harbour, once an important naval base and the home of Team GB's Olympic sailors, with views out over the Purbeck hills and UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The perfect launch point for seafaring adventures big and small.

About the role



The Cleaner is responsible for creating a clean and well-presented environment around the marina ensuring that staff/customers/guests enjoy a comfortable and pleasant visit.

Key responsibilities



Perform thorough cleaning of Marina facilities according to established standards and protocols. This includes dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitising surfaces to maintain a hygienic environment within the marina reception, kitchen areas, and washrooms. Properly dispose of all waste and recyclable materials in designated areas. Monitor and report inventory levels of cleaning supplies and amenities to the Customer Service Manager to ensure adequate stock is maintained at all times. Report any maintenance issues or damages observed during cleaning duties to the Customer Service Manager. Provide friendly and courteous service to guests, responding promptly to any requests, inquiries or complaints while maintaining a professional demeanour. Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and visitors/customers. Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices.

Skills & Experience



Knowledge of cleaning techniques and best practices for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance. A passion for providing excellent customer service and creating positive guest experiences. Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects. Strong verbal communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with customers and team members. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Collaborative mindset and a willingness to work as part of a team to achieve common goals. Ability to handle customer concerns or issues with a calm and solutions-oriented approach. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. Ability to prioritise your workload to maximise your efficiency. Ability to work quickly without compromising quality. Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Diligent and pay attention to detail. Knowledge of public safety and security.

Working Hours



We are seeking to recruit a Cleaner on a zero-hour contract basis. Initially the role will be required to work around 20 hours per week for several weeks (covering absence) and will move to an ad-hoc basis after this. The working hours will include some weekends and bank holidays.
