Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and meticulous Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for pupils and staff at Swallow Grange. This role requires flexibility to work outside of core school hours during term time and the ability to carry out comprehensive deep cleaning during school holidays. Due to the nature of our setting, discretion and adherence to safeguarding protocols are paramount.

Working Hours and Schedule

The maximum hours for this role is

10 hours per week

. The schedule will be agreed upon with the successful candidate, but must align with the following parameters:

Term Time:

Work must be completed

before 9:00 AM

or

after 4:00 PM

on weekdays.

School Holidays:

Hours will be condensed to allow for a

full deep clean

of the premises and facilities.
Key Responsibilities

Term-Time Cleaning

Daily cleaning of all teaching, communal, and office areas, including dusting, vacuuming, and mopping. Cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking washrooms and toilet facilities. Emptying bins and ensuring appropriate waste disposal and recycling. Wiping down high-touch surfaces (e.g., door handles, light switches, tabletops) to maintain a hygienic environment. Cleaning staff and pupil kitchen/canteen areas, including surfaces and sinks.

Deep Cleaning (School Holidays)

Conducting periodic deep cleaning of floors, walls, and internal windows. Thorough scrubbing and sanitation of kitchen and washroom areas. Cleaning and polishing all furniture, fixtures, and fittings. Deep cleaning of any specialist areas (e.g., therapy rooms, sensory spaces). Cleaning and tidying external areas immediately surrounding the building entrance, as required.
Person Specification

Essential Requirements

Proven experience in cleaning, preferably within a school, commercial, or healthcare environment. Reliability, excellent time-keeping, and a flexible approach to working hours. A strong understanding of COSHH regulations and safe working practices. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing time effectively to complete all tasks to a high standard.

Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable

Previous experience cleaning educational facilities.
