To ensure the GP surgery is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with infection control guidelines. The Cleaner plays a vital role in supporting a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Working hours are 5:30pm to 7:30pm Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean all areas of the surgery including consultation rooms, waiting areas, reception, offices, toilets, kitchen/staff areas, and corridors.
Disinfect frequently touched surfaces (e.g. door handles, light switches, phones).
Refill soap dispensers, toilet paper, paper towels, and other supplies.
Empty bins and dispose of general waste appropriately.
Use appropriate cleaning materials and equipment safely and in line with COSHH regulations.
Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
Report any maintenance issues, damage, or hazards to your Manager.
Maintain cleaning records and checklists accurately.
Ensure confidentiality and respect for the privacy of all patients and staff.
Essential:
Previous experience in a cleaning role (preferably in a healthcare or similar environment).
Understanding of infection control and hygiene standards.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good attention to detail.
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Basic understanding of spoken and written English.
Desirable:
Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.
Experience working in a medical or clinical setting.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
Uniform and full training will be provided.
