Job Description

Part time Cleaning Operative required to start on 5th January 2026, by St. Aidan's Day Nursery, Harraby Community Campus, Edgehill Road, Carlisle CA1 3SN.



12.5 hours per week, strictly Mon-Fri, 5.45pm-8.15pm, 2.5 hours per day.



No weekends. You will be part of a team of 3.

Role involves thoroughly cleaning the nursery premises operated by St. Aidan's, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are consistently achieved.

Must possess recent, relevant cleaning experience in a professional environment, with references to prove excellent attendance and timekeeping records.

Applicants with a DBS/Enhanced Disclosure Certificate are strongly preferred.

Duties include:

To clean all areas of the Nursery including toilets, kitchen units and staff areas in accordance with specific cleaning schedules formulated for the setting by the Nursery Manager. To clean all surfaces of the Nursery including carpets, lino, floors, paintwork, tiles and to report any maintenance issues that prevent safe and efficient cleaning of these areas. To ensure sufficient cleaning materials and equipment are ordered or purchased in consultation with the Manager and that they are stored safely out of access by children at all times. To remove all rubbish and put in approved outside bins ready for collection. To adhere to all company policies and procedures. To work in compliance with COSHH Regulations, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and the Welfare Standards within Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Remaining aware and observant of health and safety issues in the nursery and where possible reducing the risk of accidents through preventative actions. Being aware of and complying with the risk assessment documentation of the nursery relevant to the role. Maintaining the safety of yourself and others by wearing any protective clothing / gloves as detailed on COSHH safety data sheets and COSHH / risk assessments for the nursery and ensuring all products are stored away after use.
