About

The role



As a Cleaning Operative, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across all Sheffield College sites. You will be responsible for ensuring that all cleaning tasks are carried out efficiently to a high standard, following the college's Health & Safety procedures. Working as part of a team, you will help ensure that all areas are kept clean, presentable, and safe for students, staff, and visitors.

Main Responsibilities:



Cleaning, washing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing and vacuum cleaning of designated areas to the required standard.


Emptying litter bins, etc., and removing waste to designated areas and ensuring correct disposal.


Cleaning of toilets and washrooms to the required standard where allocated.


Spray cleaning and scrubbing floors.


Using powered equipment where necessary (buffers, wet pick-up machines, vacuum cleaners etc).


Cleaning of working surfaces and other furniture as directed.


Clearing up after flooding and/or any other emergency cleaning.


Undertake training, maintaining health and safety in the workplace and ensuring the correct process is followed for reporting faults.


Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities.


Ensuring correct completion of work record sheets.


From time-to-time these responsibilities may be reviewed so that they evolve as part of the college's strategic growth and success. You may also be required to take on other tasks related to the job to support the College in the delivery of its strategic aims, without changing the role's main purpose.
