Job Purpose


The Cleaning Supervisor will assist the General Services Manager in the day-to-day management of cleaning operations to ensure effective service delivery, full compliance with health and safety legislation, and adherence to the client's specifications. This role involves supervising a team of cleaning operatives, upholding high standards, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all team members.



Key Responsibilities

Ensure cleaning rotas are adequately staffed and team members are clear on their responsibilities. Implement and adhere to safe systems of work and all relevant health and safety procedures. Monitor and ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to the required on-site standards. Maintain a full working knowledge of all cleaning areas and ensure these are consistently upheld. Follow all client and company policies and procedures at all times. Promote and maintain high standards of professionalism, conduct, and operational efficiency. Foster consistent and effective team communication. Perform cleaning duties as required to support the team and service delivery. Report maintenance faults promptly using the correct procedures. Attend mandatory training courses to stay up to date with legislation, policies, and procedures. Undertake any miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Senior Cleaning Supervisor or General Services Manager.


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Proven supervisory experience, ideally within a cleaning or facilities environment. Strong people management and leadership abilities. Flexibility and adaptability to meet operational needs. Solid knowledge of the cleaning industry and best practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Competent in using computers and common software (e.g. email, rotas, reporting). Good numeracy and literacy skills.
